Student Outcomes
Ме́жду на́ми provides all the materials needed for a comprehensive introductory-level college Russian course with approximately 150 contact hours of instruction. Each unit starts with a list of goals so that students know what they will be learning to do in Russian and can keep track of areas in which they might want do additional work. By the time students have finished working through Между нами, they will know:
- a good deal about daily life in today’s Russia
- something about the country’s history and geography
- something about the lives of significant figures of current and past Russian culture.
In terms of speaking and conversational skills, students will be able to:
- communicate basic information about themselves, their family, their interests, habits and opinions
- interact with Russian speakers, initiate conversations, ask questions, and react to comments and questions in conversation on a variety of topics
- have skills to manage their interactions with native speakers
Linguistically, students should be able to:
- read, understand and use approximately 1,000-1,200 of the most common Russian words
- recognize, know, and use nouns and pronouns in all six cases, both singular and plural
- recognize, know and use verbs in all three tenses, both aspects
- recognize, correctly interpret and use a variety of basic sentence structures
